The Barely-There Base.

NARS Light Optimising Primer, L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau De Teint
I know most people love to amp up the coverage come A/W, but I just cannot stand having a face full of makeup. A high-coverage base makes me want to tear my face off by the end of the day and that's not a nice feeling. After hours of contemplation on the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and a bit of coaxing from Daphne, a sly Cult Beauty order is on it's way but until then I've found a lovely light base that feels weightless on the skin.

Looking reeeally happy here, but the foundation in action
L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau De Teint, a product that I was more than a little skeptical about, has become  my favourite everyday base. The L'Oreal foundation has a lovely water-like feel on the skin, which not only makes it easy to blend but gives a very natural finish. I have the shade Porcelain and it is a perfect match to my fair skin if not a tiny bit darker, but I find my complexion looks warmer rather than ghostly pale. I do find this to really cling to any dry patches on my face, so beware if you have problem skin. Although I have to say dryness isn't a problem for me at the moment, as my skin is more on the combination-oily side of things currently and this stuff stays on my face all day long. I'd say that the best way to apply this foundation is with your fingers, followed by a quick buffing with my foundation brush to even it out.

Forget the dewy glow as this is a fairly matte foundation, which may be an issue for some. I do find that if I apply too much then my skin can look slightly lack-lustre, though the best solution for this is to prep the skin with a radiance boosting primer like NARS Pro-Prime Light Optimising Primer. This combination is absolutely dreamy, my skin looks very natural but like it's been lit from within. I normally rub a hefty dollop of the primer into my skin and then press on the L'Oreal foundation for a natural finish. Some people have complained about the glass bottle of the foundation, but I love it as it adds an expensive finish to the high street product. Overall I highly recommend picking this product up, particularly if you have combination skin like little old me.

  1. I've been quite skeptical about trying the L'Oreal Eau De Teint also! I definitely need to give it a try though from others reviews! I love seeing what people use as a natural face look. I really need to try the NARS primer also! Great post and you look lovely!

  4. Haha! I can't wait for your cult beauty order to come! I know you'll adore the tinted moisturizer like it's your first born! :P I've been more into lighter bases recently but like you, I had reserves about this foundation. I'm still not sure if I'm going to add another bottle into my evergrowing base collection....How's the coverage on this? I've heard that it's basically non-existent?????

    1. Haha I'm eagerly awaiting the post man like everyday waiting for it! Yes it's extremely low coverage, but I quite like that, I usually add like two layers to cover my face AND you only need a teeny tiny blob
